The beautiful city of Vienna forms the backdrop to this lunchtime concert. Strauss was in his early twenties when he composed his passionate Violin Sonata. Inspired by his new love and future wife, soprano Pauline de Ahna, it hints at the glamorous, swirling scenes of Der Rosenkavalier that would follow.
