The Windsor and Eton Choral Society (WECS) gave its first public performance in Windsor in 1837 making it one of the six oldest Choral Societies in the country.
The Society is about 150 strong and generally performs a very varied selection from the main choral repertoire, most recently a Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Concert in St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle.
Windsor and Eton Choral Society present Mendelssohn's 'Elijah '. This great Oratorio was very much the Messiah of its day, a hugely popular work that absolutely cemented Mendelssohn's position as one of the greatest composers of sacred music and depicts the events in the life of the Prophet Elijah with wonderful orchestration, choral and solo singing.
