Liederkreis: Seven Songs by HRH Prince Albert, The Prince Consort (Sold out)
    7.30pm Friday, 29th September 2023 (1 hour, 40 minutes)
Tonight we begin our programme with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in the enchanted woodlands of Mendelssohn's incidental music to Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. This playful overture is partnered with a contemporaneous selection of songs written by a composer who was deeply inspired by Mendelssohn: Prince Albert. He composed them for performance at Windsor Castle and they have been brilliantly orchestrated for this premiere performance by Paul Mealor and sung by leading tenor Andrew Staples.
