In this, Voci’s 10th Anniversary year, they are very pleased to be able to offer this concert of contemplative music as part of Windsor Festival.
The programme includes pieces such as Pearsall’s Lay a Garland and Parry’s I Was Glad and will finish with Faure’s magnificent Requiem. This amazing Requiem depicts the timelessness of human existence, the procession of generations, human longings, profound sorrow, fear of the unknown, as well as light, hope, the ultimate joys of heaven, and, above all, peace. Faure himself said ‘It has been said that my Requiem does not express the fear of death and someone has called it a lullaby of death. But it is thus that I see death: as a happy deliverance, an aspiration towards happiness above, rather than as a painful experience.’
