Haydn: The Creation

Performance:
7.30PM Saturday, 1st October 2022
Genre:

The Windsor and Eton Choral Society gave its first public performance in Windsor in 1837 making it one of the six oldest Choral Societies in the country and has Her Majesty The Queen as Patron.

The Society is about 150 strong and performs a varied selection from the main choral repertoire, most recently as part of a Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Concert in St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle.

This year WECS are performing The Creation, which is the last major work of Franz Joseph Haydn’s lengthy career and one of the masterpieces of the choral-orchestral repertoire. Today The Creation remains enormously popular, thanks to its abundance of hummable melodies, pictorial text-setting and irrepressible cheer.
