Alastair Niven has plied a career as writer, lecturer and administrator. Director of literature at the Arts Council and the British Council, he was president of English PEN in an epoch of change, but public service finally led him to Cumberland Lodge in Windsor Great Park, where he headed its royal foundation for discussion of educational and ethical issues for more than 12 years.

In conversation with his long-standing friend, actor Alison Skilbeck, Alastair will talk about his memoir, In Glad or Sorry Hours, discussing his early life in Scotland, international career and work promoting well known writers. This promises to be a lively and amusing evening.
