The programme for this concert will centre around Randall Thompson’s Frostiana.
Frostiana is a setting of seven poems by Robert Frost, commissioned by the town of Amherst in Massachusetts where Frost lived for many years. They provide a nostalgic glimpse of rural New England life. The first performance of Frostiana, with a choir comprised of singers from throughout the township, was attended by Robert Frost, who was so delighted that at the conclusion of the performance, he rose to his feet and shouted, ‘Sing that again!’
