Windsor Festival International String Competition: Semi-finals

Competition:
11.00AM Monday, 27th September 2021
Genre:

The 8th Windsor Festival International String Competition has found a new home within our Autumn Festival this September. For the first time ever, the competition will also take place virtually in light of the ongoing global pandemic.

Launched in memory of Windsor Festival founder Yehudi Menuhin, and the foremost competition of its kind in the world, WFISC seeks out exceptional young string soloists. Reaching all corners of the globe, the competition encourages, nurtures, supports, and enables prodigious talent to come to fruition.

The exciting array of WFISC prizes are valued at over £20,000, with a unique opportunity for the First Prize Winner to return to Windsor to play a concerto with our Associate Orchestra, the Philharmonia Orchestra, in the Waterloo Chamber, Windsor Castle during the 2022 Windsor Festival.

All Semi-final recitals will be performed from each competitors’ country of residence and recorded for competition adjudication as a concert performance.

‘Windsor Festival International String Competition has given me such wonderful base to build up my career. Every time when I look back, I notice that without all the support from WFISC, I would have never imagined myself reaching so far.’ Jiyoon Lee (2015 Winner)
