After the Battle of Dunkirk in June 1940, the country was faced with the serious threat of German invasion.

To protect King George VI, Queen Elizabeth and the two Princesses, a special detachment from the Coldstream Guards was formed in secret, known as the Coats Mission.

Hear from Tim O’Donovan, whose cousin was a member of the Mission, about the plans that were put in place – including the escort of the Princesses from their home in Windsor Castle to one of three stately homes chosen as refuge for The Royal Family.
