The Librarian

Talk
3.00PM Thursday, 27th September 2018
Genre:

Salley Vickers, the author of nine highly acclaimed novels, comes to Cumberland Lodge where she is a trustee to talk about her latest book, The Librarian.

Paying homage to the role of public libraries and those who work in them, Salley’s new novel tells the story of Sylvia Blackwell, a newly-trained librarian in 1958 who seeks to inspire children to read. In conversation with Alastair Niven, Salley will look back at her own childhood, what made her into a writer and why books matter more than…well, most things!

Speaker: Salley Vickers

Duration: 1 hour

‘Salley Vickers sees with a clear eye and writes with a light hand. She’s a presence worth cherishing’  Philip Pullman
