The Incomplete Shakespeare

Performance:
2.30PM Friday, 30th September 2016
Genre:

John Crace, the Guardian’s parliamentary sketch writer and author of the Digested Reads columns, has partnered with Professor John Sutherland to create amusing parodies of some of William Shakespeare’s greatest plays.

By retaining their rhyming couplets, but mixing Shakespeare’s original language with a more modern style, this new collection of the Bard’s work sees plays including Macbeth, Hamlet and Much Ado About Nothing digested to a few thousand words.

These clever interpretations are a joy for those who know their Shakespeare, perfect for the theatre goer and an enormous relief for anyone studying the plays. They also guarantee an entertaining afternoon!

Speakers: John Crace

Duration: 1 hour

‘Give me the daggers and I’ll pin the blame
On Duncan’s grooms who both are also slain.
A little water clears us of this deed
Though a large scotch might also do the trick…’
