Julie Summers describes herself as a biographer and historian, but most importantly she is a story teller.

In this beautifully illustrated talk, Julie looks at some of Britain’s country houses occupied between 1939 and 1945 by people who would never otherwise have set foot in such opulent surroundings. The extraordinary circumstances thrown up by the war meant that Blenheim Palace was occupied by schoolboys, whilst Audley End played host to Special Operations Executives. Northern Scotland was ideal for training secret agents and Shropshire offered inspiration to Ronald Knox when translating the Bible.

This will be an afternoon full of secrets and surprises.
