Darkness over Germany

Talk
7.00PM Wednesday, 27th September 2017

Established by Amy Buller as a place to tackle social divisions through the exchange of views and constructive dialogue, Cumberland Lodge celebrates its 70th anniversary this year.

A pioneering young woman who defied her critics, Amy led groups of British intellectuals to Germany during the 1930s to confront the threat and appeal of the Nazis. Her subsequent book, Darkness over Germany, was rediscovered by BBC investigative journalist Professor Kurt Barling, who immediately recognised its stark warning.

Join him to explore how a message of hate fuelled a nation to unite and the significance her findings have in our current times.

Speaker: Kurt Barling
