Deeds not Words

Walk
10.30AM Sunday, 13th March 2016
Genre:

In May 1913 Windsor Castle was closed and heavily guarded over the holiday weekend due to the threat of attack. Attack by suffragettes – women campaigning for the vote.

An active suffragette movement in Windsor held outdoor rallies, meetings in their homes and debates in the Guildhall. They marched with their banner in national processions of 50,000 women. This walk follows those local women, their fight for the right to vote and how ‘deeds not words’ came to Windsor with the fire-bombing of houses.
