Berkshire Young Musician of the Year 2016 Final

Performance:
2.00PM Sunday, 13th March 2016
Genre:

Following the success of the Young String Player of the Year competition which took place for the first time during our International String Competition in 2015, in collaboration with Berkshire Maestros, we are thrilled to be inaugurating the Berkshire Young Musician of the Year for our Spring Festival – this year open to Wind and Brass players.

Preliminary rounds are being held throughout Berkshire in the preceding months, but you have an opportunity to join us for the final round of the competition at the Guildhall on Sunday 13th March: an unmissable chance to see the finest of Berkshire's under-18 year old talent perform in front of an acclaimed professional jury – it promises to be an exemplary array of musical prowess.

Performances will take place from 2pm with the champion, ‘Berkshire Young Musician of the Year 2016’, being announced at around 4:30pm. From 5pm, masterclasses for wind and brass players will be held offering ticket holders an intriguing insight into the work which takes place leading up to the performances we all enjoy, and a chance to talk with our esteemed jury. Stay for the whole afternoon or drop in and out as you wish.

The jury will include clarinettist Anthony Pike, Principal clarinet of ECO and an international soloist, Nicholas Korth, Principal horn of the BBC Symphony Orchestra, London Conchord Ensemble and a composer, and representatives from the Philharmonia Orchestra, associate orchestra of Windsor Festival International String Competition.
